Gary’s Mac, iPad & iPhone classes for the winter
/The new year is upon us and with that brings the beginning of the winter quarter at Clark College in Vancouver. This winter I have some exciting new classes and some classics. Here is the lineup:
Jan 6 through Feb 3:
Advanced Mac - 10:00 to noon Tuesdays. If you have completed my Intro to Mac and Intermediate Mac -OR- are very proficient with your Mac and want to take your skills to the next level, this class is for you! We will explore popular 3rd party apps such as Dropbox, online backup, alternative browsers. Students will guide the choices. We will also explore useful built-in apps and utilities. We will learn advanced maintenance and troubleshooting techniques.
Intro to iPad & iPhone - 1:00 to 3:00 Tuesdays. Do you want to learn the very basics of how to operate your iPhone and/or iPad? We will start from the beginning, including powering it on, getting familiar with its controls and using its basic functions. Explore how to adjust it to your liking, operate many of the included apps as well as how to search for and add apps. Along the way we will learn many useful and fun tricks and tips.
Jan 20 through Feb 17 (evening class):
Intro to iPad & iPhone - 6:30 to 8:30 Tuesday evenings. Same class as described above
Feb 10 through March 3:
All About iMovie - 9:30 to noon Tuesdays. Every modern Mac comes with this easy video editing app. It makes creating movies actually easy and fun. iMovie organizes video clips and enables easy editing and sharing. In addition, iMovie easily accesses iPhoto and iTunes libraries so video, stills and music can be beautifully integrated into a final movie. Learn how to import and organize raw video clips from a video camera, digital camera or smartphone. Discover how to integrate video, stills and music to create amazing movies. Also, learn easy ways to share your movies via DVDs, YouTube or Facebook.
Advanced iPad & iPhone - 1:00 to 3:30 Tuesdays. Move from iPhone and iPad basics to the next level, learning about iTunes syncing, iCloud, Photo Stream, Messages, iTunes Radio, Match, Siri and other popular apps. Enhance your efficiency and enjoyment of these devices with useful and fun tricks. Intro to iPad & iPhone (described above) is a prerequisite.

Mac classes are taught in Clark College’s Mac lab that is filled with modern Macs for you to use (or bring your own). iPad & iPhone classes are taught in a standard classroom - bring your own device(s).
